We went to visit my Czech family for 2 weeks and get to know at little bit of Europe – which I am sure will not remember too much , but I know mom will have plenty of pictures to show me…
After leaving my comfortable crib around 4:30 am we were ready to hop from plane to plane – airport to airport and arrive to Prague the next day during the morning. I managed to behave most of the time and considering I was being moved around from time zones and different bed, food and weather I was ready to enjoy it as much as possible.
Prague received me with my Babi and Dedda waiting at the airport, my uncle Martin was recording every moment of the reunion after 10 months of not seeing each other – a whole life for me!!! The same day and after a good nap of about half day I was ready for the party my grandpas had in our honor. Before the party I met Tomas Jr., Auntie Alena and great Babi, they brought me gifts and we took some videos together. It was nice to spend time with them. I met most of my Czech relatives and friends at the party. I also was able to take a good nap during the party to be able to continue the fun and going from person to person waving hello (or AHOJ) and having a great time. I received a lot of cool toys and I was in a lot of pictures taken that night.
The rest of the week was great, relaxing and playing a lot, trying to get used to the new time zone and the only downsize is that I wasn’t that hungry or in the mood of eating like usual. Don’t know why but milk became my favorite meal while in Prague.
Friday arrived in a blink of an eye and we were ready to leave to France. My dad and his family has been going there since he was a teenager and it was my time to go there and start enjoying the snow and eventually learning how to ski.
Mom packed everything the night before and made sure I had good clothes that auntie Alena and Babi Zdenka looked for me. Full body jackets, under pants, hats, gloves and more. Some food for the road hoping I will eventually eat and toys to keep me entertained.
We had one stop to make before France and it was to Nuremberg in Germany to meet my aunt Karin and uncle Petr that were looking forward to spend some time with us. We arrived Friday afternoon and I had a great time there, playing with their dog and just being me the entire time. Managed to watch some German cartoons and even ate polenta soup that Karin prepared for the kids (Tomas Jr. and me). After a busy day we relaxed and slept very good in preparation for the long day ahead.
Saturday morning after breakfast and some snowballs from Karin we left Germany around 9 in the morning thinking we were only 6-7 hours away from France…not knowing how bad traffic was going to be…12 hours later we found out how it was. I behaved pretty good the entire time considering I was in the car for almost the entire day. We stopped for my meals and finally I was hungry and ready to try everything my parents wanted to feed me. I also enjoying a video my mom had in the laptop ready for when it became necessary…meaning when I was too bored that I needed something extra.
We arrived to Les Menuires in Savoie, France late at night. I was ready to take a good sleep. My bed was waiting for me so that is what I did, slept “like a baby”.
Sunday morning I was ready to go out and discover the snow. It was difficult for my mom to put all these new clothes on me and on top of that I had my part crying like crazy…I cannot talk yet so all I have is the crying to show her when I don’t like something. It was difficult to get used to all the clothes while inside the room because it was super hot and then outside I also had to deal with putting sunglasses…but after all this I managed to go out and my dad was waiting for me to slide down the child’s snow castle. We played for a few minutes and then he went to ski and I stayed with mom who took me around the area checking out the stores and services available.
My dad enjoyed a couple of days of skiing and my mom was with me all the time taking me around, relaxing at the room and playing together with Tomas. We discover the indoors playground and the best for me was that I didn’t need to wear that many clothes so I was able to crawl and use my hands to play with the balls and chew on my fingers. Also since I am under 3 years old I was able to get there for free!!! The perks of being a baby :)
While in France, dad had to travel to Geneva, Switzerland for some meetings so mom and I decided to tag along and get to see some of Geneva. We drove about 5 hours to get there and met Mollie, from my dad’s office. She took us for dinner to a great place where my parents enjoying typical Swiss food (CHEESE!!!!!) and I played and ate so much that eventually I passed out and slept really good in the baby chair. The next day my mom met her high school friend Maritza and we went for a looooong walk around the city, it was fun for mom and Maritza to catch up after so many years. For me? Well, it was cold but I still enjoyed the tour around the city.
Back in France that night we went to Babi and Dedda’s room for dinner and to play more with Tomas Jr. The week went by really fast, mom went out one day with dad to the lifts so she can take some pictures of the mountains. I stayed with Babi Zdenka most of that day and she took me out to play. That afternoon mom took a snow shoeing tour and after that we all met for crepes, some water and cookies for me, crepes for the older ones.
Saturday arrived and it was time to go to Zurich to get the flight back home. To our surprise it was a very long drive that took about 8 hours and put us in the hotel at night. All I wanted and needed was a shower, food and sleeping time and that is all I got that night. Ready to leave the next morning at 7am we were at the airport just to find out that the plane was delayed for 4 hours…my poor mom and dad were so tired and could not believe that we still had to spend a night in another place before making it home. The airline gave us a night in Atlanta and added an extra flight to out itinerary. So we had some time to spare at the airport and we discover how Zurich can be the best airport for babies. They have this amazing room for kids to go and play for free. I was in paradise!!!!
The way home was super long but I was feeling so tired that slept most of the time on the 10 hour flight to Atlanta. Then night over there and next morning up and running for the next two flights…finally I was able to be in my own playground at home around 4pm a day later than expected.
Next trip? I have asked mom and dad to please please please let me stay at home for a few weeks before packing again! So I will be here waiting for next month when I will have all my grandparents together visiting. Also my uncle Fer, Bruce and Melodie will come to enjoy my first year in this amazing world. Can’t wait to see them!!!!
