Friday 27th was supposed to be the day for Andrea to come to the world, but she decided that was too late and wanted to come a bit earlier. She chose Friday April 20th to be here instead.
Last Friday I decided to run all my errands before my last week of pregnancy. The plan was to take it easy, sleep and relax this week so last Friday was shopping day. I was out and about since 9am until about 2pm. Then pick up Adri and relax that afternoon. But around 6pm all changed a bit. My water broke - at least that is what Monica said - It was time! What now? Let's chat with Tomas and let him know I may have Andrea tonight?, What should I pack (I was planning to do it the following week...), I am hungry but I cannot eat just in case...By the way, Monica, cancel your bbq because you may have to stay with me overnight!... All that and we headed to the hospital.
We made it to emergency, wrong place, go back to the car an go thru the normal entrance...Where is maternity? too far to walk, let's get a wheelchair...That was too much, two crazy ladies laughing thru the corridors, elevators and trying to find our way around...We finally made it to maternity, wrong place again...we needed to go to Labor...At the end by the time we made it to the right place and the doctor saw me, it was time to call Tomas and let him know that it was time. I was going to surgery that night.
At 9:52pm Andrea Cerna was born. Monica Pena got to cut the umbilical cord and was with me all the way! Now we are really "tied" for life. Andrea was 19 inches and 7.32 lbs. Healthy baby girl and really pink with full dark hair.
We spent only a couple of days in the hospital. By Monday I was ready to go home, actually I wasn't but the doctor said the contrary. I had recover pretty good and Andrea was also doing great, eating 4oz of milk and sleeping long 4-5 hours. I decided to send her to the nursery the 3 nights I was there and that was the best. I was able to rest and be fresh the next mornings for her. Adriana stayed at Monica's and she was being taken care so well I didn't have to worry at all.
Tomas changed his ticket and flew on Monday to meet Andrea. Was good timing, he literally arrived from the airport to pick us up from the hospital.
Adriana met her little sister on Saturday afternoon and she did pretty good too. She especially liked when Andrea gave her a gift for becoming a big sister. A doll with a backpack and all the things she needed to take care of the doll. She named her doll Andrea.
Tato arrived as a surprise for Adri and when she saw him, it was heaven for her. I have never seen her so happy in her life. She didn't stop giggling the entire time, run to him and hug him non stop while giggling...My Tato My Tato My Tato!!! It was so nice to see them back together.
A week has passed now and we all are doing great. Finally together as a family and enjoying Adriana and Andrea. Adri is adjusting pretty good to having a baby sister. She really doesn't pay too much attention and let us take care of Andrea. She only really need her mami at sleeping time, but we manage with Tomas for him to take care of Andrea and I can go with Adri.
Adriana is also out of diapers this week! CONGRATULATIONS ADRI! It is going pretty good, only a couple of accidents but the rest of the time she is doing great. Also got new underwear that she can choose every morning what model to wear and because she is "a big sister" she can show that she doesn't need diapers anymore.
Andrea is a great newborn. In schedule of 4-5 hours since Saturday and drinking 4 oz like nothing. We barely hear her crying (I hope not to jinx it now!). Burps, pees, poops, and all that stuff without problems. It is super cute to see her making all these funny faces while she sleeps.
