4 weeks in this world and already a great traveler! We left Monica's home at 8am and got to our home in Prague the next day at 11am (Prague's time). Sad to say good bye to our great friends, thankful for all they always do for us but also looking forward to meet Tata , Adri and our Czech family.
Security in Miami wasn't that easy, people really wasn't into helping the mom with the newborn and 4 pieces of luggage, plus ipad-laptop-shoes... we eventually made it and headed to the lounge to spend some "quality" time in the restrooms while getting milk and changing Andrea - took us about 30 minutes there!
The first flight to JFK went better than expected, we got upgraded to business class and even got the seat next to us free! So Mami ate, watched TV and Andrea slept the entire flight. Great start for a very long day!
When we got to JFK we were not still sure to be able to have the bassinet on board the plane, seems that with Delta it is a first comes first serves and of course there is only one...But even like that we had people helping us all the time. The lady at the lounge was kind enough (or maybe felt bad about mami with baby and all bags!) to let us go into the showers to get milk, change and relax a bit without people around us. Was great! Then she also called "transportation" for us gate to gate so we didn't have to walk at least for 20 minutes to get to the other terminal.
We made it first on the line to get the bassinet at the gate but by then I had Andrea in my arms for about 4 hours between going from one place to another - this including bathroom! Of course poor Andrea cried so bad before boarding - too much for the long day, that and the fact that she was still hungry after drinking 6 oz! But by the time we got on board she got relaxes, quiet and it was perfect the entire flight. We didn't get to use the bassinet for the first 4 hours of the flight because of turbulence...but the couple next to me was very nice and helped me - even when I was sleeping almost going on top of Andrea, the lady decided it that didn't matter any turbulence and that I had to place Andrea in the bassinet. THANKS! It worked out great and she spent the rest of the flight there except for one feeding before landing.
Immigration went fast, no extra questions except if Tata was Czech...Getting the bags was another story...I had Andrea on the sling, the stroller and the cart to get the 3 bags and car seat. Again, people helped and I managed not to lift any heavy stuff. I managed to stroll all that while people were looking at me...Good that Tato was right outside to help out!
And we made it home - right on time for another feeding! and more napping time. We unpacked, did (still doing) laundry, Andrea ate once and twice more before going to her bedroom for another 4 -5 hours. And we are now relaxing...
Tomorrow Adriana will come back from Myslin and Baby, Dedda, and everybody will come to meet Andrea.
